What is Fuchuk
Fuchuk is a soy based product also known as tofu skin, yuba, bean curd skin, bean curd sheet or bean curd robes. In fact, fucuk is the film or skin forms on the liquid surface when you boil soy milk. Fuchuk is very popular in Malaysia, Japan and China.
Once the films are form, you have to collect them and dry them into yellowish sheets known as tofu skin. Tofu skin is not technically a proper tofu, because it is not produced using a coagulant. However, it has a similar texture and flavor of some tofu products.
Types of Fuchuk
You can buy fuchuk fresh, half-dried or in dried form. If you purchase dried tofu skin, you have to re hydrate it in water before use. It is often used to wrap dim sum.
Fuchuk texture is slightly rubbery, and it is also manufactured in bunched, folded and wrap forms. You can use it to replace meat in vegetarian cuisine.
